Chelsea defender, Thiago Silva has identified Arsenal duo Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus as players who could help Brazil go as far as possible in the 2022 Word Cup.
He went on to say that Martinelli has the ‘arrogance’ to shine at the top level.
Brazil will start their World Cup campaign against Serbia on Thursday evening. They are seen as one of the tournament favourites.
It is Martinelli’s very first World Cup and Silva believes the Arsenal star, who is making waves in the Premier League this season, is more than capable of stepping up onto the international stage if given the opportunity.
“You can see the connection they’ve[Martinelli and Jesus]had this season with Arsenal – it’s a big reason why they’re top of the Premier League,” Silva told The Mirror.
“Jesus, we’ve known about his quality for a long time, but Martinelli is really showing what he’s about.
“I think all attacking players at the top level need that little bit of arrogance.”
Jesus and Martinelli have helped Arsenal to hold on to the top of the Premier League table this season. Martinelli has scored 5 goals for Arsenal this season.
