Manchester United iconic ex-manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has named Bryan Robson as ‘easily’ the best captain he had during his Manchester United tenure.

Ferguson, who spent 26 years in Manchester United, worked with some of the very best footballers during his reign.

Some of the players who captained the Red Devils during Ferguson’s reign include Steve Bruce, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Nemanja Vidic.

The above mentioned players lifted Premier League trophy wearing the captain’s armband under his leadership.

However, Robson, who was United captain for a record 12 years, between 1982 and 1994, was the best of all for Ferguson.

“Well, he was easily the best captain I had. I think over the period he was at United, he was the best player,” Ferguson told United’s website.

“The players loved him. ‘They responded to him and he was the longest-serving captain in my time anyway.

“It’s difficult for a captain because sometimes he has to tell the truth to players, you know?

“The encouragement he’s got to give them sometimes can be quite volatile and he was like that, but the players did love him.

“They appreciated the time he took on them and another thing, he’s the only captain I knew who could make a decision on the pitch. He didn’t need to look over to me.

“He would do that and that’s unusual. In fact it’s very unusual because he had the balls to do that.”

Manchester United’s next Premier League is at Old Trafford against Mikel Arteta’s rejuvenated Arsenal side as the Red Devils hope to continue getting results.

Led by caretaker boss, Michael Carrick, Manchester United recorded a 2-0 victory against Villarreal in the Champions League last week and played out 1-1 draw with league leaders Chelsea on Sunday.

The club also confirmed the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as their new interim boss on Monday and hopefully, the German would be in charge of their game against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
