Former Liverpool midfielder, Danny Murphy has warned that Manchester United interim boss, Ralf Rangnick may not get as much respect from the club’s players as Antonio Conte would.

Antonio Conte was highly considered for the job but had to join Tottenham along the line when the Red Devils’ job was not forthcoming.

Rangnick was announced as the replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Monday and will spend the next six months in charge of Old Trafford.

Rangnick who has not managed a club since leaving RB Leipzig in 2019, left his role as head of sports development at Lokomotiv Moscow to take up the United job.

Rangnick’s managerial CV boasts clubs such as Hannover, Schalke, Hoffenheim and, most recently, Leipzig.

And Murphy reckons the 63-year-old will be highly scrutinised at Old Trafford and may not get used to it.

“I think Rangnick’s got a few hurdles he’s going to have to jump,” Murphy told talkSPORT.

“The first one is, I don’t know the guy, but whoever you are, the scrutiny he’s going to come under when he takes the job, he’s never had that at any club before.

“Every part of his life will be scrutinised and analysed.

“Everywhere he goes, everything he says, will be analysed to within an inch of his life, whereas all the other jobs before he’s not had that.
