The mood in Manchester United’s dressing room is “flat”, leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with the task of lifting his players for Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Atalanta, ESPN reports.

United were beaten 4-2 at Leicester City last weekend.

Morale has taken a significant hit following the loss, as Solskjaer has won just two of their last seven games.

It is understood that the manner of the defeat has caused concern within the squad, with Solskjaer admitting after the game that goalkeeper David de Gea was their best player despite conceding four times.

Solskjar is said to have kept his players in the dressing room for 45 minutes after the final whistle, before emerging to fulfill his media commitments.

United have three days to prepare for Atalanta’s visit to Old Trafford. They are third in Group F after one win and one defeat from their first two games.

After Atalanta, the Red Devils face Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City in the Premier League.
