Ballon d’ Or: He’s a sensational man – Low picks favourite to win award

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel’s assistant, Zsolt Low, has backed Chelsea midfielder Jorginho to win the Ballon d’Or award this year.

Low described Jorginho as a ‘sensational man’, adding that the Italian international deserved to win the Ballon d’ Or ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi, Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and others.

Jorginho was included in the 30-man shortlist for this year’s Ballon d’ Or last week.

The 29-year-old won the Euro 2020 with Italy, the Champions League with Chelsea and was named the UEFA Player of the Year.

“He is a sensational man who excels not only in his quality and knowledge [on the pitch], but also in his human qualities,” Low told Digi Sport.

“I would consider him absolutely deserving if he won the Ballon d’Or, and would be glad that the award was not only decided between two or three offensive players, but that there be an opportunity for someone else to win it with hard work and great discipline.”
