Over 200 religious leaders have asked Mt Kenya politicians to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and stop disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The clergy drawn from the larger Gatundu in Kiambu County broke their silence after what they termed heightened disrespect for the Head of State.
Led by Bishop Peter Ng’ang’a, they said President Uhuru cannot be swayed by such rhetoric threats since he is busy building his legacy. “As a church we have declared our support for the President’s agenda to unite the country through the BBI process. The initiative is for the future and posterity of our nation,” he said.
Under the umbrella of Gatundu Sub-County Clergy Forum, the church leaders said they have been watching recent developments in the country and could not continue watching as elected leaders abuse and belittle the president.

They said Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, an ardent supporter of DP William Ruto and a leader in the anti-BBI campaign, does not represent the voice of Gatundu people.
As church leaders, they declared support for uniting Kenyans through the BBI process. They also regretted that the country has suffered locust invasion, Coronavirus scare, disunity among other ills, which they said will come to an end only if leaders stand behind the President.
