Kirinyaga woman rep loses nephew in street car racing accident : The Standard

Kirinyaga women representative, Purity Ngirici is mourning the death of her nephew who was among those who died in a grisly road accident along the Namanga-Arusha highway.

The accident which involved two cars took place during a street racing event on Sunday evening.
At least eight people were reported dead and several others injured in the accident which happened at Oldonyosambu area on the Arusha-Namanga highway.
Ngirici took to Facebook to eulogize her nephew:
“The cruel hand of death has snatched my beloved nephew Robin who perished from the Arusha Namanga accident. Robin was a young man of virtue. I recall with nostalgia his passion for everything his mind set to do. He was a sociable bubbly gentleman who like any other young person had great dreams for his future. Rest in eternal peace my dear nephew. You will be fondly missed,” her post read.
According to a local media outlet, Robin is said to be the son of Mr Patrick Njiru, a businessman who owns a chain of businesses, notably the Kenya Moja buses.
“He was one of the competitors when the accident that shocked everyone at home occurred,” a relative told journalists.

The racing enthusiast was studying engineering at DT Dobie in Nairobi.
Robin’s red Mitsubishi Colt had four occupants, three of whom died.
Four years ago, two people lost their lives after two vehicles, an AMG Mercedes Benz and a Nissan GTR, crashed in a grisly accident at a Kiambu car racing event.
